Memory in the Flesh
-Published
by Dar Al-Adab, Beirut, 1993. This is in its 17th edition today, rare
in the history of contemporary Arabic literature.
- The NOUR Award, the distinction awarded to the
best feminine work in Arabic language, was presented to her in 1996, by
the NOUR foundation of Cairo.
- The Najib Mahfouz Prize, for the equivalent novel of "concourt",
was presented to her by the American University in Cairo, in 1998.
- In 1999, she received the Professor Georges Tarabey Prize, honoring
every year the best, literary, published work in Lebanon.
-The novel was translated into several languages, including ">English
by Baria Ahmar Sreih, Italian
by Francesco Leggio, and French
by Mohamed Mokeddem.
- It is currently being translated into: German, Spanish, Chinese, Kurdish.
- The novel has been adopted in the university programs of several international
universities and the Arab world (Sorbonne in Paris, University of Lyon,
University of Maryland in Washington, the American University of Beirut
and Cairo, the University of Amman, the University of Algiers, the University
Saint Joseph, Beirut ), as well as in the program of the Lebanese high
school diploma.
- The novel has been the subject of doctoral theses and university research.
- It was considered by the critics as the best Arabic novel of the last
decade.
-The famous Egyptian director,Youssef Chahine (who received a special
distinction at the Cannes Film Festival), bought the rights to screen
it.
